Annual Insurance Fees

February 27, 2026

Dear Shenandoah Council Area Leaders,

Thank you for your continued dedication to delivering a high-quality Scouting experience to the youth and families we serve. Your leadership, passion, and commitment remain the heart of our movement.

I am writing to inform you of an upcoming change related to our insurance fee. As you know, insurance is an essential part of maintaining a safe and responsible Scouting program. It provides protection for our volunteers, youth, and chartered partners and ensures that our activities can continue with confidence and proper coverage.

Over the past several years, the cost of insurance has risen significantly. Therefore, effective March 1, 2026, the annual insurance fee will increase from $6.00 to $15.00 per participant.

This adjustment allows us to maintain the level of coverage our programs require while continuing to provide a safe environment for all participants. We recognize that any fee change affects families and units, and this decision was made only after careful review and consideration.

We are committed to being transparent about these costs and to ensuring that Scouting remains accessible. If you have questions or would like more information about how insurance supports our operations, please do not hesitate to reach out or attend one of our council fireside chats in March

Thank you again for everything you do. Your service makes Scouting possible, and we are truly grateful for your leadership.

Yours in Scouting,

Thomas Labayewski
