Ceud mìle fàilte, a hundred thousand welcomes to all ye lads and lasses. Phenomenon 25 - The Quest for Sqessie is here to bring a wee bit of the Scottish Highlands to you.

Phenomenon 25 - The Quest for Sqessie is a Scottish Highland themed older youth weekend program for Crews, Ships, and Scouts BSA members ages 14+, planned by the older youth in the Shenandoah Area Council and other nearby CST 12 Councils, and is based on the Venturing ALPS model.

Sqessie (pronounced SKESS ee) is the American cousin of the famed Nessie (aka the Loch Ness Monster). Sqessie, according to local folklore, has lived hundreds of feet down in the deep, dark depths of Lake Sinoquipe and, according to local native folklore, has been sighted many times over the last several centuries!

2025 Phenomenon Details

WHO: For adults and youth ages 14 and older

• Registration Opens: April 21, 2025
• Late Fee Begins: Friday, August 15, 2025
• Registration Closes: Friday, August 29, 2025 (11:59 PM)

WHEN: Friday, September 5, 2025 - Sunday, September 7, 2025

WHERE: Camp Sinoquipe Scout Reservation (677 Boy Scout Rd, Fort Littleton, PA 17223)

COST:

• $45 per Participant (Adult/Youth) - REGULAR PRICE
• $55 per Participant (Adult/Youth) - INCLUDES $10 LATE FEE
• $5-35 per Class (Adult/Youth) - SOME CLASSES HAVE ADDITIONAL FEE $5-$35 EACH CLASS

Youth (14-17) and Young Adult (18-20) Participants

• NRA First Steps Pistol (2 sessions; max 8 per session; $20.00)
• Leave No Trace Level 1 Skills-Level 1 Instructor (min 4; max 24; $35.00)
• ILSC/ILSS
• Goal Setting / Time Management
• Project Management
• Introduction to Venturing & Sea Scouting
• Mentoring
• Shotgun Shooting activity (max 10 per session $5.00)
• Puzzle competition (teams may be four youth, three youth/one adult, or two youth/two adults, $10.00/team)

Adult (21+) Participants

• Growing Your Crew
• Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor (min 4; max 24; $35.00)
• Introduction to Venturing & Sea Scouting
• Assist with the Shotgun program activity
• Assist with the Quest program activities
• Puzzle competition (teams may be four youth, three youth/one adult, or two youth/two adults, $10.00/team)

• NRA First Step Pistol is limited to a maximum of 8 participants per session, open only to youth and young adult participants, $20.00 fee includes materials and ammo. Those taking the afternoon session may not be able to participate fully in the Quest.
• Leave No Trace Level 1 Instructor is limited to a minimum of 4 participants and a maximum of 12 participants. A $35.00 fee includes all materials (if the minimum is not met by Aug 1, 2025, this course may be canceled). This course requires attendance at the Friday evening, all Saturday sessions, and Sunday morning sessions. Participants will not be able to participate in many Phenomenon activities, including the Quest.
• Shotgun shooting activity is limited to a maximum of 10 participants per session, $5.00 FEE
• Competitive jigsaw puzzle is set at teams of four (can be all youth or can be a mixed team of up to two youth and two adults), $10.00 fee for the team
